This summer my wife and I are taking a vacation to Walt Disney World. Actually, saying this summer makes it sound far off. We’re leaving in exactly two weeks. Wow. Putting it that way makes me want to go upstairs and pack.

Anyways, the reason I’m writing this post is to mention a website our travel agent gave us when we picked up our trip paperwork. (By the way, AAA is the way to go when booking Disney vacations.) The site can be found at www.wdwinfo.com. It calls itself ‘DIS’, and the only reason I can think of for that name is it’s short for Disney. I couldn’t track down an explanation, so we’ll go with that.

What you’ll find there is a complete guide to all the parks, hotels and attractions Walt Disney World has to offer. And when I say complete, I mean complete. Every single ride has its own page with a description of what to expect and an explanation of how the ride came to be.

Now this is the unofficial guide, which means it’s not sponsored by Disney, but in my opinion it’s a better resource than their site. The content on wdwinfo.com is very conversational, which makes it more entertaining to read. The official Walt Disney World site is much to corporate for me. You will get a nice little intro courtesy of Tinkerbell, but otherwise the site is more focused on getting you to book your trip than anything else.

I’ve already mentioned how thorough DIS is (that rhymed), and that’s not only for the attractions at Walt Disney World. There is also complete guides to Disney Land, the Disney Cruise Line, Disney Timeshares, and even a little nod to Universal Orlando – evil neighbor to the happiest place on earth. Like I said, it’s a COMPLETE guide to Disney World and then some.

One thing I will say, in an effort to look out for my readers, it’s probably not a good idea to check out any Disney World related websites unless you intend to take a vacation. Otherwise you just may find yourself answering to a nostalgic call from the big-eared mouse against your better judgement. You’ve been warned.
