Do My Stuff (Because I’m Lazy)
Ok, not everyone who finds this site useful is lazy, but my first impression of DoMyStuff.com is a bunch of Tom Sawyer’s trying to get their friends to paint fences. On the site users can post jobs, tasks or projects that they need to have done. Visitors can then bid on the job and the user chooses who they want to do the work. The difference between this and what Tom Sawyer pulled of is the compensation you receive if you are selected to do the work.
DoMyStuff is very similar to ads you’ll find on other web services, but it does tend to focus more on odd-jobs and services instead of computer-based projects. Things like laundry, cleaning, and lawn care are examples. Whenever I think of this sort of business model I immediately think the worst of people and wonder how payment is policed. In this case, the site has a secure escrow system that will make sure payments are made in full but only after the work has been completed and approved.
